Sorry it took so long to respond, this plugin is not very popular so I quit checking this support forum.
So you want the list of group names in the profile field you create be used for the group name and slug (kind of a like a template)? Is the motivation that its a pain to have to create all of the groups ahead of time? From personal experience, that definitely sucks.
I think this is possible. I need to consider any security issues.
Please reply if u are still interested so I know at least ONE person will use this functionality if I invest the time into it.

For me creating the groups at the same time as adding the filter to select for them is a natural thing to do and therefore not a pain.
But I wanted to comment on your statement ‘this plugin is not very popular’. It may be that it doesn’t have many downloads currently, but I’d say that if you’re interested in having Buddypress function as a focus for group collaboration (which should be it’s major strength, right?) then this plugin is a super empowering addition to that functionality. I just came across it while looking for the (now sadly defunct BP group documents — another valuable plugin hit the dust) and my eyes lit up. So please don’t underrate your contribution to the BuddyPress community — I’m sure that for everyone who has installed it the Group-O-Matic (great name by the way!) is a vital part of their setup. Thanks for your work on this and keeping it up to date.

@markpea Thanks for the kind words. I think the reason it doesn’t have a lot of downloads is that people don’t know they need this plugin until they see it! Its kind of like an tv infomercial… nobody sits around thinking they need Jammie Jeans until they see them, then its a *must have* 😉
I’m very interested in having the auto create group feature. We’re building a educational system for schools, where teachers will sign up and register their school/group, after which the students will be able to be auto joined to that school/group when they register.
We have large amounts of schools signing up for this, so the manual creation of groups is a pain in this scenario.
Thanks for a good plugin. It really helps us.
