Support » Plugins and Hacks » [Plugin: BuddyPress Album ] Upload File Size Error

  • I just tried uploading an image, but received an error message:
“The file you uploaded is too big. Please upload a file under “

It is a hi-res image, so I understand it’s a large file size. My question is first if there’s a way to increase the file size limit for the upload. Second, if there’s not, is there at least a way to display a message to the user of what size to keep the file under. Currently it’s just displaying a blank space.

Thanks! I’m really looking forward to trying this plugin out.

P.S. In addition, if you’re using WPMU, you should also configure upload size in Dashboard > Site Admin > Options

@mercime: Thanks for the reply. I know about the PHP method, but forgot to check the limit in the dashboard. Doh! 😉 I was focused more on the plugin settings, didn’t even think about that.

But, I’m still not sure about the error message. It’s returning an empty string as I mentioned. I appreciate the error message for the user, but would like to let them know what the max size is.

katendarcy, that would be specific to the album plugin’s functions. I would suggest that you bring this directly to the BuddyPress thread where the developer/users will be able to address the issue.

There are also special implications for systems running on WordPress MU, because WordPress will block the plugin from storing more data if the user has hit their quota.

I have the same “problem” with the max file size not showing. Looked up the sting in the buddypress language file and it should be put in value %s, which apparently it isn’t. The string is originally used in bp-core-avatars.php.
