 * The last two releases of my plugin, Better WP Security, have had the “broken”
button shoot up to ridiculous levels with each of the last 2 releases. As I’ve
had an individual threaten me on this and as these are levels that have never
been seen, even before the bugfix, I’m pretty sure this is malicious. What can
be done about this (short of releasing a new version each day). The plugin isn’t
broken and is bringing me a bit of extra cash that I do not want to lose.

 * Not a lot, I’m afraid. In reality, the whole broken/works system is skewed towards“
broken” as those who have no problems rarely (if ever) have the decency to go
back to the plugin page and report that it works. 🙁

 * Wow. That’s extremely frustrating. Is there anyway us devs could see a list of
IPs that submitted and the timestamp? I would be willing to bet, in my case anyway,
that there will be quite a similarity.

 * I seriously doubt that this will ever happen. And I do think that, in some cases,
there would be a possibly disturbing level of similarity. But that kind of data
is sensitive, so I don’t see it ever being opened up to plugin devs. Or anyone
other than WPORG admins. I mean – would you like someone checking to see if your
   IP was listed and when?

 * Only logged in users can use the works/broken button, and even then you can only
press it once for it to count (you can switch back and forth, but you only get
one vote, basically). So unless someone, or a group of someones, has multiple
accounts, it’s unlikely. And IIRC that behavior gets noticed. I know it does
when people try to game the star/ratings.

 * But it won’t stop the same people marking A.N.Plugin as broken every time it
is updated even though they are no longer using it. I imagine that it’s this
kind of petty behaviour after a perceived slight that Bit51 is concerned about.
I know we’ve had the same suspicions after every recent eShop update. We always
seem to have 2 “broken” votes very quickly.
 * Me? Paranoid? Who said that? 😉
