Hi, thanks for this great plugin. I have just a little problem with thumbnails: i have installed the plugin and next i have regenerated thumbnails (wordpress thumbs are 150x150px). If i set 150 px in the widget, thumbnails looks fine, and the source is true (150×150). But, if i set every other dimensions, like 50 px or 70 px, thumbnails looks fine, BUT source dimensions are 300 px (wordpress medium image). This is a problem for page load time, it would be better if thumbnail source is the lowest. For “source dimensions” i mean image properties, so the original image.
How I can fix the problem?

The plugin’s dimension option utilizes HTML re-sizing on the images. The images that are being re-sized are being taken from the Featured Image of the post and would have those “source dimensions”. Also to note, the Featured Image option takes advantage of the_post_thumbnail function; and since the 150×150 exist it should be calling that first.

That is what I suspect is going on, I will add this to the plugin’s TO-DO list for further review.

Thank you for using BNS Featured Category; and thank you for the feedback, too!

All posts have featured images at 800×600 px, with thumbnails at 150×150 px. If i set in the widget 70 px, the HTML resize looks fine, but if you see the properties, real dimensions are 250 px. I think it’s strange, or not? Real dimension should be 800×600 (original image) or 150 px (the smallest thumbnail), further resized in the widget at 70 px.

The plugin uses the basic functionality offered by the_post_thumbnail to handle the images. The function is described here:

Although you have said you “regenerated” your thumbnails, it appears the “default” size (possibly set by your theme?) is 250px from your description. If your thumbnails are set to 250x250px then what you are describing is what I would expect the results to be.

This is a rather interesting case although I am not certain what more I can suggest at this time.
