I gave this plugin a try last night and it seemed to work, although I noted two problems.

    1. It stopped anonymous visitors from being able to comment on my articles. I think this is partly because I use a simple javascript trick to tackle spam bots and for whatever reason that seemed to be disrupted by this, so it called the wrong (default) comments file instead of my redirected one.

    2. I also found that the WP Popular Posts plugin stopped logging article views from visitors.

Now I’m not sure if these were caused by the plugin itself or the combination with needing to enable ‘Late Init’ in WP Super Cache. The plugin did catch some bad bots for sure, but sadly I can’t be doing without my anti-spam and popular posts features, so I’ve had to disable it.

I also found that, while enabled, pages on the site were slower to load. Again I’m not sure if this is down to ‘Late Init’ as I’m not familiar with what that setting does.

There is no reason this plugin would block any comments or anything similar. It does two things:

    * Adds a hidden text link to your web pages
    * Blocks any bad bots that follow the link

That’s it. It doesn’t have anything to do with comments, posts, or anything else.

So based on that, I am thinking that the issue is with your cache plugin. As explained in the plugin readme.txt, documentation, Help tab, and elsewhere, the type of caching referred to as “Page Caching” is not compatible with Blackhole.

If your cache plugin has a Late Init option, you can enable it and Blackhole should work properly. Check out this post for more details. If in doubt, it is recommended to deactivate Blackhole plugin until things are figured out.

Feel free to post again with any further questions, comments, etc. Always glad to help.
