[Plugin: Better WP Security] How are 404 errors detected?

  • My WP is installed in it’s own dir, with htaccess redirects so that the URL is the top domain . i.e:

    domain.com -> domain/blog

    I have other directories serving other purposes under the main dir for some other webapps I have. e.g.

    domain.com/mywebapp/doSomething.php

    Im my BWPS 404 logs, I’m seeing 404 errors for /mywebapp/doSomething.php.

    Any idea why? Does BWPS check the access_log?

    thanks
    James

  • The plugin relies on the WordPress ABSPATH variable to determine from where it should start scanning for filecheck. For 404 errors, if your server is configured to redirect all 404 errors to WordPress it will see them (it relies on WordPress to tell it when a 404 has been found). Your host should be able to help you fix the latter if needed.
