• Great work and eye opening about the number of animals being killed per second!

As it seems to (re)start counting when you reload a page, I wondered if you could also make an option to have it start a a certain date?

For example, you cycle 10k miles per year, sell 100k products per year etc, so when viewing the page at 1st July, it automagically starts counting at 5k miles, 50k products etc (not restart at zero every time).

That would be great and very useful. You would need a start date field (with start amount) and an end date field (with end/projected amount).

    Cheers

    Hi Bike,

We will consider the idea of enhancing the counter to be more of a realtime level based on known statistics for a date range. For now, the counter measures seconds, beginning from zero, and counting infinitely based upon the rate indicated in the annual occurrences per second entered. The idea is to see how many theoretical occurrences would be taking place while you are viewing the counter so you can appreciate the magnitude of the statistics.

What you can do with the current counter is convert to the best looking statistic. For example, 10k miles per year equates ~1.67 feet per second. 1.67 ticks per second would look nice on the screen, so you would enter the number 52,800,000 (that’s 5280 feet per mile times 10,000 miles) and call it “Feet I’m Bicycling” with a footer stating something to the effect of “Based on my bicycling pace of approximately 10,000 miles per year from last year’s measurements.”

Thanks for your ideas and do let us know if you have others for us!
