    I’ve not been able to reproduce this on 2.8.5 (which this should work on just fine).

    I have @bk.ru (for example) blocked and it seems to work just fine.

    Can you give me an example of the domains?

    Here’s an example list that I am still getting sign-ups with even though they are in the Ban Hammer blacklisted domains list:

    mail.ru
    rupr.org
    rxciales.info
    rxviagra.info
    ukr.net
    wep8.com
    wep6.com
    xporno.ru

    not sure why this isn’t working for me… BTW, I have upgraded WP to 2.8.6

    Try putting the @ in front.

    @mail.ru etc

    I’m having the same issue. Here is my blacklist using the @ convention:
    @buy-vigara.info
    @freefanmail.com
    @freesitemail.com
    @gawab.com
    @gmx.com
    @jobsinchemist.co.uk
    @mail-on.us
    @mail.ru
    @rupr.org
    @rxciales.info
    @rxviagra.info
    @sexcamsex.org
    @the1s.com
    @thriftcityshopping.com
    @ukr.net
    @wep6.com
    @wep8.com
    @xporno.ru
    @yalta.krim.ws

    *huh* Okay, I can’t reproduce this, so I’m starting to think it’s a case of server settings.

    What are your server specs? PHP version, SQL version, etc.

    Hello

    Here’s the spec

    Linux server.org.uk 2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686 #1 SMP Mon Mar 23
    23:37:54 EDT 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

    Server version: Apache/2.2.11 (Unix)

    mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.77, for redhat-linux-gnu (i386) using readline 5.1

    PHP 5.2.9 (cli) (built: Apr 17 2009 03:29:12)
    Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group
    Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2009 Zend Technologies
    with eAccelerator v0.9.6-rc1, Copyright (c) 2004-2007
    eAccelerator, by eAccelerator

    We’re running the latest WordPress and BH went on yesterday. It’s still being ineffectual.

    Thanks. I’ll look into this. The only major difference between your server and mine is Zend, which strikes me as odd. I’m going to build a server with Zend to test.

    Thank you very much, look forward to seeing if there’s a solution!

    Okay, I can repro this but ONLY with Zend. That’s just weird! I’m digging to see if I can sort out what PHP call doesn’t like Zend. Argh!

    Thank you for being so patient!

    No worries and thanks again for looking into it. I’ve had so many spam registrations that I’m quite happy to be patient for a fix!

    Hi, has this been corrected? I too have Zend and would like to use your plugin.

    Thanks,

    Sadly, no. I’m really just stumped as to why a server with Zend and eAccelerator break, but APC is happy as a clam.

    To make it worse, I rebooted my Zend box and magically it started working again, but my friend assures me it still fails on his.

    I KNOW it doesn’t work on 3.0 multi-site (or WPMU), but that’s because the hooks for email addresses are different.

    That’s unfortunate and I hope you’ll eventually find a solution, the only other plugin I found which does something similar to yours is WP-Ban but it seems that the author might not continue to support it.

    Gene53 you might consider trying Bad Behaviour. I eventually gave up and disabled Ban Hammer (nice idea though and good to see it works elsewhere). I use Mingle so some options were out but using BB, I’ve probably had 4 spam signups in a week, as opposed to about 160.

    I agree with MsCrow. I use Bad Behaviour as well as BH (I was trying to stop ONE guy from signing up on my site).

    I’ve been playing Plugin-Compatibility with this in the meantime, so if you’ve got any plugins, let me know. It can’t hurt to keep thumping away at it 🙂
