• This is one of the top back-up plugins out there.

Recently I tried P3 – Plugin Performance Profiler and a little confused why BackWPup would rank as the number one plugin using resources?

I would have though it would only run when enabled? eg when doing a back-up.

I checked server logs and don’t see BackWPup showing up which is good.

Just wondering if the author had any insight into why P3 plugin performance plugin would say BackWPup was using a lot of resources?

  • P3-Profiler – I agree P3 says Backwpup uses a lot of resources. But how it establishes this is a bit of a mystery -as you say, there’s no record of P3-triggering backwpup in my server logs after running P3.
However – Backwpup does use quite a lot of server memory WHEN IT RUNS (about 86MB on one of my sites), otherwise it doesn’t use anything. But it doesn’t use much in the way of CPU resources… about 4% is the highest I’ve seen.
Not an answer to your question – just thought you’d be interested
Also agree it’s one of the best backup plugins – the only one I use on my own and client’s sites

Thanks. Yes, it’s set to run during quite periods so no real issues.

I’ve it set up a few sites and not some across issues. I don’t think P3 Profiler is that accurate if it’s saying backwpup is using a lot of resources 24/7.
