  • dgw

Ever since it was introduced, the hard-coded job time limit has been killing my backups. My last successful archive job was over two weeks ago.

I’m thinking it would be great to allow customizing (either globally or per-job) how long a job can run before being killed. Having a hard-coded limit doesn’t work in my situation, with nearly half a gigabyte of files to archive.

the time limit is reset on every log message that came.
in Line 90 of backwpup_dojob.php you can set the timelimit.
how log a job work on your host?

My last backup (which was successful, with glitches; see below) ran for 78 seconds. They usually take a bit longer than that. I’m not sure what DreamHost’s process time limit is; sometimes things work, sometimes they don’t.

As a side note, I got some “File or Folder is not readable” errors that look identical to another discussion I saw. I think it’s fixed (a misplaced untrailingslashit() instead of trailingslashit()) but I thought I’d mention it.
