[Plugin: BackUpWordPress] Indefinite Zip Compiling

  • I installed the BackUpWordPress plugin on a WordPress site I’m performing maintenance on but I’m having trouble with the backup process. Once I begin the process, it compiles the data and begins to create a zip, but it seems to freeze in the zipping process. I have tried multiple attempts but it continuously shows the zipping dialog and as soon as I cancel the process, I am left with an incomplete file that often ranges from 1 to 7 Mb (one time 20mb) regardless of the amount of time I’ve left the tab open for it to process- anywhere from ten minutes to many hours, and the site is about 170 MB. I have tried multiple attempts to deactivate and reactivate and even dele and reinstall the plugin to try again but I am left with the same problem.

I’m using the latest version of this plugin along with the latest version of WordPress. Is there a method to troubleshoot this with?

You could be hitting some kind of internal server resource limit.

Could you try switching to a database only backup and seeing if that will complete properly.

I have the same problem, my site is 257MB.
I tried the backup of the db only (by editing the file wp-config, because it does not save changes made in the listbox), successfully. But not possible to backup files.

    Thats for the report.

I continue to improve the reliability of the files backup in low memory environments so do keep trying new versions as I release them.
