I used define( ‘HMBKP_PATH’, ” ); to modify the default location for backups. This works and backups are saved outside the public_html directory. Unfortunately, when I click on a Download link to a backup, I get a 404 error. Since the path is from /home, the web server can’t find the file.

Does this mean that if you use HMBKP_PATH to store the backup files outside the web space that you can’t download them from the links in BackUpWordPress?

Correct if your backups are stored somewhere that isn’t web accessible then you won’t be able to download them.

You’ll need to download them manually over FTP

    Thanks for the answer.
