Sorry for any confusion!
Our plugin does not automatically follow people. In fact, the only thing our plugin can do is display instagram posts as the access tokens are “read-only”. Did your research mention this plugin specifically? Do you have a link? I might be able to see what the person meant more specifically then.

Thank you for the quick reply, it is appreciated. I believe you and was surprised myself but could not find any other explanation . My apologies if my message was not clear enough as I am just trying to find the solution to the problem.
It does not mention the plugin specifically but as that is the only API that we use and the only thing that connects to the Instagram account, I could nto think of anything else.

After reading through some of the other responses I think what’s happening is that there are Instagram services that will have your account automatically follow other profiles to try to get more followers in turn. Revoking permissions to third-party apps is a way to get this to stop if you signed up for such a service or app.
Our app does not do this and cannot be used for this. I guess I’m not sure why your account is automatically following others. You could try resetting your passwords as another measure that might prevent this.

You are correct and it was not you. The people that I am looking after, they told me now that they did at some stage hired a social expert company (always get scared when I hear that). I am pretty sure they installed an app to increase the followers so that they can prove how good they are and then once they were fired they removed the app and nobody was the wiser. It is only now that they can see that they are following all those unrelated people that they freaked out and start looking for an answer.
My sincere apologies for all the troubles and I do appreciate taking the time to answer and deal with it.
If anyone else reads this post please do think twice in using “social media experts” as you can end up with the same problem and a lot of troubles, just thought to give you the heads up and hopefully help someone else the troubles.
Also in my opinion this is the best Instagram feed plugin out there by a miles and that is a true review.

No worries! I can definitely understand the situation. I would definitely agree that you need to be careful with those kinds of services.
Glad you like the plugin so much as well! We definitely have some more improvements on the way as well.
