    I don’t like author who release plugin to make money
    You request donation for a basic widget which doesn’t require lot of work

    You should learn the word “community” and not only trying to cheat
    I don’t like the “don’t show this window again” desactivating the plugin when you click on

    this is unfair : if you want to make money, just sell your plugin and stop to propose a free version full of annoying messages to make a paypal donation with insane amounts.

    so, for the people who are bored with the widget in the dashboard
    just go to contribution.php and edit it :
    remove lines 68 to 75 and you won’t get the boring message anyway

    $this->t(‘Your contribution is still missed!’),
    Array($this, ‘Print_Contribution_Message’),

    have a nioe day and good luck

  • Agreed. The author has to decide whether he wants to be building a commercial one or a free plugin. Using ultra-bold red letters on every backend page to remind me that I haven’t donated is an asshole move: if I wanted to donate I’d have done so in the first place.

    A 1-star rating for this one, and I’ll be discontinuing its use soonish, when I’ve built its functionality into the theme.

    I’m a plugin developer my self and i do encourage donations but i would never highjack the dashboard the way this author does.
    Now after that has been said.

    this plugin makes unnecessary calls to a remote server

    And For know it shows ads but since the data is returned and encoded the author can push whatever he wants to you site.

    simple solution to remove this is to delete this line
    Require DirName(__FILE__).'/contribution.php';

    at the bottom of wp-plugin-widget-author-info.php file.

    and a much better solution would be to stop using this plugin all together.

    Thanks for the info Bainternet.

    That red donation link was driving me nuts. I agree, not using the plugin would be the best solution but I finally got everything where I wanted it so just deleting that line of text was the best option for me.
    Thanks again!

    Tx for the info

    Its great !!!

    is there an alternative to this plugin? because I need a box widget that displays author info ;o

    I’m interested to see if anyone knows an alternative to this widget as well. Currently a client is using it on their site but now that they’ve updated their version of WordPress they’re getting an error code in the back end. An alternative would be great! Thanks!
