First, I love this plugin! It is so much better than other calendar/events plugins I have used previously.

Second, I am wondering if there is currently a way to limit the number of times a repeating event shows in the upcoming events widget. Because of how often one type of event repeats, it doesn’t leave room for other types to be included.

I am using v1.2.5. Perhaps I could change a PHP setting, if it’s not something I can adjust through the dashboard?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hmm. No answer to his questions yet. I also need to limit the number of times a repeating event shows up in the widget. I’d be happy if repeating events showed only once so that other events could show up in the widget. Can anyone help us with this problem? Is there a way to do this?

@ jwhitbeck can you update to the latest version – 1.7 Premium?
@ aaylnx2 – what version of the plugin are you using?

I’m using 1.6.3 of the premium version. At the top of my WP dashboard I have a message that says:

All-in-One Calendar Update 1.7 Premium now available. New in 1.7 Premium: Bug fixes: JavaScript, theme compatibility, slider conflicts, date selectors; Multi-day event UI fixes; Un-minified css for easier editing Click to upgrade.

When I click on the link, I’m taken to a “Page Not Found” on my own site. I noticed that some others are having this problem here and here.

Is this because of the blackout at then.ly? It would be great if 1.7 had the option to display only one instance of an event an not all of its reoccurrences. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to update to 1.7 right now.

    @ aaylnx2
    – What is your WP version?

    I am on the latest – 3.3.2

This is not about the blackout. The link should still be there. Can you hover over the link and let us know what the url that it tries to send you to is?

Thanks, there are a couple of other users talking about this – we are investigating.

In the meantime, you can do a manual upgrade, if you need help walking through how, we can help

Yes, I would appreciate directions on how to properly do a manual upgrade.

Also, the original question of this thread regarded the ability to display repeated events only once in the calendar widget. The comments above suggest this is possible. Is this a feature that will show up once I upgrade, or do I need to konw something else?

    Thanks!!!

By default you will see every event in the widget – it’s not possible to view only one instance of a recurring event in the widget without editing the php

Do you think the limitation will be addressed in a future update? I imagine a lot of users would like to be able to control how many times a repeating event shows in the sidebar widget.

In the meantime, do you know where the PHP code would be found that would need to be changed? Or does PHP code need to be written to alter how the data is displayed?

    Kind thanks

Thanks! Yes if it’s not too much trouble, I’d love to know how to edit the php to adjust the number of instances of which recurring events display.

I don’t know if this was the correct place to do so, but I have made a feature request for this ability here:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/feature-request-ability-to-restrict-instances-of-recuring-events-in-widget?replies=1#post-2876628

    Thanks!

I did a manual upgrade for the previous update. Now with the new update it’s asking me to do it again. Should I just uninstall and reinstall? I’m hoping to get rid of these manual updates.

@aalnx2 – thanks for the feature request. Features requests can also be submitted at help.then.ly

if you have the most up to date version, you should not be getting suggestions to upgrade.

As for the recurring events, the php for this is in agenda-widget.php, which is in the wp-content/themes-ai1ec/yourtheme You should probably create a child theme so that your changes don’t get overwritten on update.
