    Hello,

    I”ve been having a couple of problems with the calendar plugin, but only on Safari (version 6).

    The problem is that when moving my cursor around in the calendar area on the page that’s displayed by the plugin, I often get flashing from the whole area. Additionally, sometimes the buttons aren’t working, specifically the ones to move from month to month on the calendar.

    I had someone look into it, and he found that the calendar page was missing an object…some of the time, indicating it’s probably a caching/page load order issue. He found he was able to get “TypeError: ‘undefined’ is not an object (evaluating ‘page.start’)” in calendar.js line 4, but couldn’t reliably reproduce it. Again, this is only happening in Safari.

    Do you happen to know of any potential solutions to this problem? It’s been happening on this site: http://grandave.mere.li

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi merellc,

    I have taken a look at your site in ‘safari’ browser and I could not see any flashing however, the drop down calendar menu would not work and also as you stated, I could not change month. Can you confirm that you are using the latest version of ai1ec?

    Thanks

    Richard,

    Thanks for taking a look. We are running the latest version (Version 1.8.3-premium). The flashing is more severe on the home page, where we’re using the calendar widget under the “Upcoming Events” heading.

    Hi merellc,

    I have taken another look however once again cannot replicate this. In order to troubleshoot why the calendar view drop-down menu is not working please do the following:

    1. try (temporarily) deactivating all other plugins.
    2. try (temporarily) changing themes to WordPress twenty eleven.
    3. If neither of the above help please provide WordPress admin and FTP access to help@time.ly

    Thanks

    Richard,

    I tried those steps, and it doesn’t look like it’s a plugin or theme conflict issue. I’ve contacted help@time.ly as you requested.

    Hi, I am experiencing the flashing issue too, all be it only in Safari, no problem at all in Chrome or Firefox, haven’t checked in IE yet.
    When hovering over an event in the widget the pop-up with additional info pops up and then a short flash occurs.
    I think it has to do with z-index conflict. I can not send a link because I am working on this site locally.

    OK solved my issue. After commenting out this line in my ai1ec theme style.css file the flashing stopped and it does not seem to harm anything else.
    .ai1ec-agenda-widget-view .ai1ec-popup-summary {
    /* top: -9999px;*/

    Scientic,

    I commented out that line, but it didn’t fix the issue for me. Any chance you did any additional stuff in conjunction with that?

    Not really, alltough I completely restyled the calendar, especially the Widget. I took a lot of css out or turned it off. You are talking about the calendar page right, not the widget ? I solved the issue by using Inspect Element in Safari and toggling styles on and off until I found what caused it. That the buttons don’t work can be because some (invisible) element is on top of the buttons. This too is a thing you can find out by using inspect element and make sure there is temporarily no other content on the page.

    I had similar kind of issue with the buttons and the popup not working. I found out that this was only when there was another article below the agenda widget, everything looked good by the way. The solution to that was to make sure that articles posted in the sidebar also got a float:left. That way all blocks had the same float and where positioned correctly again in the document flow. Maybe that helps a bit

    Scientic,

    Thanks a bunch for your help with this. I haven’t found a solution yet, but I appreciate the suggestions, and I’ll keep poking around.

    Well I had a look on your site and did the same as I described above and the flashing stopped.
    .ai1ec-agenda-widget-view .ai1ec-popup-summary {
    top: -9999px;

    Make the summary pop-up by hovering over the event, then control click to get Inspect Element. Then uncheck the first line of this style definition and the flashing is gone.
    Then go into the stylesheet and comment that line out. It should do the trick
