[Plugin: Akismet] Seems to Randomly Deactivate

  • I’m using Akismet (with a license) on a site with almost 200 sites. We control Plugins with Plugin Commander, and ALWAYS have Akismet set to be enabled site wite without user control.

However, there have been about 4 or 5 times in the past few months when it’s suddenly been deactivated on all the sites. This doesn’t happen with any other plugins – only Akismet.

Do you have any idea what could cause this? or how to stop it?

Thanks! …and I still love Akismet and will swear by it 🙂

  • Yeh this happened to me recently. I ended up getting tonnes of Spam comments and now Im trying to find out how to delete them all at once.

If anyone has a good way of deleting approved spam and keeping normal comments, please let me know.

Were you both using Plugin Commander? I’m looking for some pattern for why the Akismet plugin would get disabled.

No I wasnt using Plugin Commander.
PS I found a way of bulk deleting approved spam.

I haven’t been able to reproduce the deactivation item on either my test setups or personal site.

If you find any pattern to this please post the additional info.
