    Guys - forcing people to install a plugin to get rid of this annoying menu bar is not cool. MIght I strongly suggest it simply be an option in the next upgrade? The internet is getting dumber all the time, let's not be a part of that digression!

    There is an option in each user's profile editor to disable the Admin Bar, but perhaps it would have been a good idea for them to include a check if( defined( 'DISABLE_ADMIN_BAR' ) which you could define in wp-config.php to disable it completely.

    AH... I hadn't found the per-user disable feature. Thank you. That's definitely better than nothing. If some people like it, then fine with me. I just want to to vamoose!

    I know what you mean, I took matters into my own hands since I had specific needs to only disable it for certain roles set for 'normal users' on the site, as it could actually be useful for my client who maintains the site as an editor.

    Localization is the only way it works for me rewrite:
    In line 12 load_plugin_textdomain("admin-bar-disabler", false, "admin-bar-disabler/languages");

    Thanks for this great plugin.

    However, according to this --- semi-official, since it was linked from my dashboard --- site,

    Previously, you could disable the admin bar while reviewing the dashboard by simply unchecking a box in your user’s profile area. In WordPress 3.3, that option is removed for the good.

    Will the plugin still work in 3.3 ? I know that programmers ( in KDE, which I prefer, as much as Microsoft ) tend to remove options for users to disable much-hated features, but this instance seems absurd...

    I upgraded a not-for-use private install to 3.3.1, and unfortunately the plugin didn't work. However, an experimental plugin ( must be done manually right now ) at

    worked perfectly.

    Fortunately the plugin to allow expanded menus at

    also restores normality; but I shan't be upgrading on any productive blog. Congratulations to all these plugin authors for their work.
