    Hi all,

I recently added this share plugin, which I love but I am having a problem with sharing on facebook.

As you all know, when you share, a facebook window pops up that has your site information and it has some quoted text (usually the very beginning of what you're sharing).

Instead, my text is latin jumble. How do I fix this? Thanks.

  2. Can you quote some of the "latin jumble" and provide a link to your blog?

    It says
"Cumsoc natoenatibus et agnis disp nasce

    turid iculushert mus. Nulluiscehre masu

    codiogravida herja jertuades."

(It's the same every time). It might not matter, but when I click the latin to change the text, only "Cumsoc natoenatibus et agnis disp nasce" (ie, the first line) is accessible to edit.

    My blog is http://www.ShakfehLaw.com

    Thank you!!

  4. It's coming from your source code, right after the <body> tag:

    <div class="indent">
    <p><strong>Aenean nonummy hendras kroart</strong>
    <span>yiaseryas leruaderas ketuiadse</span></p>
<p>Cumsoc natoenatibus et agnis disp nasce
    turid iculushert mus. Nulluiscehre masu
    codiogravida herja jertuades.</p>

Oddly enough, I can't find any visual representation of it (or the rest of the immediately surround code) on your blog. Perhaps it's behind the header image or hidden by CSS?

Check your theme templates at Appearance/Editor in your admin panel.

Thanks. I think it's a holdover from the original template. I found it and deleted it but the problem did not go away. The text still appears when I share on facebook. :(

How does this even have a bearing on what fb shares?

  6. It's definitely gone. Try clearing your browser's cache.

Ok-- so now we replaced one problem with another.

Now facebook is quoting text from my text widgets (from the right side) under "What Our Clients Say."

How do I control what facebook quotes?

Facebook unfortunately does its own thing based exclusively on your page's content and meta data. See Why doesn't Facebook use the page title and how can I set the image Facebook uses?

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your help.

Even though I cleared my cache, I'm still getting the latin. Not sure what's up. My husband tried it on his computer and the latin is gone so that's good I guess. But it still has the side text widget for me.

micropat, I tried your link and I tinkered a bit with the SEO package, but it did not do anything. I don't know what to do really.

We'll see what my developer says.

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I *think* I fixed the problem.

I went to the All in One SEO package plugin and checked a bunch of boxes at the bottom including "Autogenerate Descriptions" and I think that might've done it. I'm not sure which box did it but I'm too scared to start playing around and unchecking. Maybe when I have more time and patience. In any case, my old posts sometimes get it right and sometimes do latin and sometimes do my side text widget (though I cleared my cache), but when I created new test posts, it worked so I guess I'm good for the future at least.

Thanks again everyone for your help!
