• Using WP 3.3.2 having AddThis 2.4.3 activated, a coupple of strange things happen :

    1) This strange string is added to Permalink: #.UFskyY3N_BE
If I set off the display of icons all is right

    2) Social icons are not what I configured in the AddThis “Setting” page. It works only if you’re logged in to your own AddThis Profile page

I write this only because there aren’t info about the combiantion of these version of WP-AddThis.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Luca, sorry you’re having issues with the plugin.

    1. This strange string is added to Permalink: #.UFskyY3N_BE

The fragment at the end of the url is actually on purpose and used to track how many shares you get from people copying the url of your site and pasting it into an email/im/etc. The feature is called Address Bar Sharing and can be disabled from the Advanced tab of the AddThis settings. You can read more about the feature here:

    http://support.addthis.com/customer/portal/articles/381254-address-bar-sharing-analytics#.UFuEHKSXRuo

    2. Social icons are not what I configured in the AddThis “Setting” page. It works only if you’re logged in to your own AddThis Profile page

Please make sure you’re selecting the icons you want and then scrolling to the bottom of the page and hitting “Save Changes”. When you load the settings page, the icons you selected previously should still be selected. Let me know if it still isn’t working for you.

If you still have problems, please provide a url to your site and enable AddThis so I can try to troubleshoot the issue. Thanks.

    Hi Sol,
about the 1st issue I thank you for you explanation. I consider that issue closed.

About the 2nd issue: the “bad” behaviour is still the same.
Please, if you click on this link http://www.supremaimpianti.it you can see the main page of my website. In the bottom right corner you see the AddThis social icons. As I set them in AddThis Share settings page of my account they should be in the following order: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Linkedin, Pinterest, StumbleUpon, Friendfeed, Email and in the end AddThisPlus icon.
If I’m logged in to my AddThis Account (on the same web browser in which the main page is open) the social icons are in the right order (as listed above), and when I logged off the icons stay in the right order even if I refresh the main page several times.
If I open the main page in a different web browser the AddThis social icons are always in a wrong order, both I’m logged in and off.

Please, can you tell me if you see the icons in the wrong order?
Is there any known issue about the icons order?

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Luca Mazzotti

Hi Luca, the reason for the icons being different on another browser is because AddThis tries to personalize the buttons based on the user’s preferred social networks. So depending on which sites you have already shared to, we show those buttons instead of other social networks even if they are more popular. Here is an explanation of the feature:

    http://support.addthis.com/customer/portal/articles/381263-addthis-client-api#rendering-preferred-services

You can specify specific social networks if you would prefer by changing the code:

    to

The above will always show the Facebook button. I hope this makes sense, let me know if you still have questions or need help.
