I'm revamping a client's website and completely changing the structure of his site.
The current site is here.
The domain and the content will remain the same, but much of the URL structure is changing.
They have a lot of LIKES and TWEETS on posts via Add This. How do these originate? Is this through the URL? If so then it seems he'll have to lose them all, because he's currently not using permalinks.
I'm wondering if there's a way to retain this data, using "post-name" permalinks.
Trying to decide if:
- It's ok to just create a new WordPress installation and import the old content.
- If I need to duplicate the current site database and create an exact copy
- If I need to somehow make my changes to the current site (seems impossible since the category structure needs to change, we're adding Wpecommerce etc.
I'd appreciate your input on this, thanks!
