Yes, that is possible by using the privacy setting on the plugin settings tab Appearance. See also the FAQ, question U36 and U37.

I now realize you want to use a custom friends list, that is not possible.

Thanks for the quick reply, Marcel !

Any idea if this feature is under consideration ?

In my case, I’ve got a private WordPress blog that I use to share family pictures. I’d love to be able to automatically notify my close family members (via Facebook) of new posts on my WordPress blog. I don’t want to bother the rest of my friends who can’t get into the private WordPress blog anyway.

I would like to provide this feature, but Facebook does not have support for it.

While it is not possible to fetch friend lists without additional Facebook permissions, it appeared to be possible to manually specify friends/friend lists while adding a link. The only catch is that you will have to find out the ID’s of your friends/friend lists, but these are visible in the Facebook URL’s, so that’t not very difficult.

If you want to try this, download and install the development version and select the new privacy option ‘Some friends’ and specify the friend/friend lists you want to be able to see newly added links.

    Any feedback is appreciated.
