  • I was moving a blog. I imported posts using the regular export/import feature (without selecting images to be included as I had already uploaded the entire Uploads folder to the new server.)

I realized after the post import, though, that the images were not in the Media Library. So this plugin looks to be the answer to solve that.

Question: If there were many Featured Images set on posts, if I now use Ad From Server to get the images into the media library on the new server will the association between posts and Featured Images be restored? Or is that lost?

  • Been playing with this a little — small batches of files.

It takes the image from my uploads folder and gets them into the media library no problem. Well, in the Media Library, I get an entry for each *version* of the each photo — the various sizes. Normally you see one entry for a single image and can choose the various sizes from within that Media Library entry.

But the other big problem I’m facing is that none of the images are attaching themselves to the posts they were formerly attached to. I wonder if there’s any way to make this happen. If I mouse over one of the new images in the media library, I can see it has an “attachment ID.”

I wonder if it’s getting a new one during the import — and no longer is associated with the post it was associated with on the old site.

How does the database store the attachment of a photo to a post?

Hi there, you just need to access your old host and download wp-content/uploads, so your images will show up, don`t need to change anything.

This plugin only get files from folders in your server and donwload them into WordPress and set them IDs, but it doesn`t attach them to posts (you will need to do it from Media panel manually for every file).
