I am writing an article for wpmu.org about your Error Notification plugin. I think this is a really slick plugin, but I have been unable to get it to work on two different installations.

    First – http://athensvet.com (active site)
After installation and activation, the notification shows, you highlight it, but the “Shift-E” combination does not work. Then, when you click the “Click Here” link, it gives you the confirmation message, but I never receive the email.
Website details: Single Site Installation, v 3.3.1, Theme – Social Eyes from Genesis StudioPress

    Second – http://jamesddunn.com (sandbox site)
After installation and activation, the notification shows, you highlight it, but the “Shift-E” combination does not work. Then, when you click the “Click Here” link, it only pages up to the top of the page, but the confirmation message doesn’t show and I never receive an email. Even disabling the other plugins doesn’t make it work.
Website details: MultiSite Installation, v 3.4.2, Theme – tried BOTH TwentyTen and TwentyEleven, Only two other plugins loaded and active – Evoca Voice Comments Recorder, and PG Redirection.

I really want to complete this article in the next day or so, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Facing the same problem.
After installation and activation, the error notification text shows up, but after selecting text and neither ‘Shift+E’ or ‘click here’ does anything. It doesn’t even go to the top like it goes for @james!

    Website details:

Single site v3.4.3. using a Child theme of TwentyEleven.
Plugins: Twitter, Yourls, Facebook, WordPress SEO, and a few other.

I know why it does not work. I will try to fix it today.
Thank you for using this plugin 🙂

    Hi,

Love the idea of the plugin!

I installed and activated the plugin. Using Google Chrome, the “Shift+E” method does not work, but the “click here” method works perfectly.

@jamesdunn and @manveet Singh – The plugin sends the email to the address set up in Settings >> General >> E-Mail Address

    A few suggestions:

1 – Allow email address as a setting. I use noreply@example.com as my default email address, so obviously, I would not get emails from this plugins.

2 – Add a z-index to the css. In my theme, it is behind my main content div.

3 – Allow for a larger thank you message. Currently it is limited to 60 characters.

4 – Allow the option to change the “If you found an error” text.

5 – Allow the option to use one, the other or both of the ways to submit the error.

Look forward to the updates! Fantastic idea!

Update to version 0.2 and let me know if that fixed those errors? Thanks.

    Goodday @tasko

The “Click Here” link worked perfectly in Chrome. The “Shift+E” method still doesn’t seem to work in Chrome. (v 23.0.1271.95 m)

Both the “Click Here” link AND the “Shift+E” method work perfectly in FireFox (v18.0 Beta)

Hope that helps. I can finish my wpmu.org article now. I’ll let you know when it publishes and you can drop by to comment.

    Just visited your website: http://jamesddunn.com/blog/2012/12/10/test-post/
and pressed Shift+E and it showed me a notification bar.

    try to clear your cache.

You are absolutely correct – it worked perfectly in Chrome now. I normally work in Firefox and have my cache turned off ALL THE TIME, but I’ve not discovered how to do that in Chrome yet.

    Fantastic job fixing that.

    Great!

    Works for me too now.

A suggestion though. It would be great if the Error Notifying visitor could also tell the admin what the error is!
Sometimes errors are unintentional, but sometimes you don’t know any better 🙂

    Hello.

I installed plugin. I see the message on the post page, and i see bar with Thx message, but i don’t receive email with errors.

Blog URL http://pelevin.pro, working in Russian language.
