 * I have been able to upload and activate the plugins I want. However, (except
in one case) have not been able to figure out how to actually get them usable
on my site. I’m using 2010 Weaver if that matters. If anyone can either direct
me to a simply explanation for this or tell me how, please be simple and clear…
i.e. lay out the steps! I’m new to wordpress and finding it challenging (not
new to programs or the computer …just coding!) Thanks, Patti

 * It is not clear to me what the problem is. Every plugin will have a different
method to ‘get them usable’. Can you give a couple of specific examples?

 * Yes, please give an example. Many plugins will have their own settings that may
need to be setup but most should work to some extent once you install and activate
   them.

 * Thank you. I added the plug in Contact Form 1. When I activated it it displayed
under the “Settings” area. I hit “edit” and what displayed at the top of the
page was this: [contact-form 1 "Contact form 1"] Easy. I just put the text box
widget where I wanted and added this and everything worked. Next plug in was
for Akismet which just did it’s thing automatically. No problem there. Then I
tried Really Simple CAPTCHA, hit “edit” and there I have a huge page of code
and on the side a bunch of code. I even tried copying and pasting code from both
sections into the widget (not knowing much about what to do with these plugins
since they all seem to do their thing differently). All I got was a bunch of
code on my home page. Am I suppose to select something in the option area? I
am totally stumped here. Thanks again.

 * The Edit button under the plugin name is there to edit the plugin code, which
you almost never want to do.
 * Did you read the description for ‘Really Simple CAPTCHA’? It does not sound really
simple to me unless a lot of code is built into Contact Form 7.
 * Try just activating the plugin and then open the page with the contact form.
See if the CAPTCHA is generated. If it is, you are done.
 * If not, the instructions say you must create a temporary directory and set its
permissions. I gather that is not something you are comfortable doing.

 * Thanks so much, yours made the most sense. I’m figuring out that in most cases
if I can’t use it easily right away then try a different one.
