    Hi,
to get an api key, you need to go to
http://wordpress.com and register an account – even though you’ll never use it
    once account is created
login to your wordpress.com account, then go to ‘edit profile’. the API key should be on the top

which plugins you need is up to you
why not browse the plugins directory for ideas or if you have something in mind – search the plugins

    Hi,

I am also new to WP but think I have a question that may be appropriate here.

In my Dashboard, there is no drop down for Plug Ins. In fact, I can’t find Plug Ins anywhere in my Dashboard. I know the plug ins I want to install, but how can I begin to install them on WP if I don’t have the Plug Ins drop down?

    Thanks.

if you have a self hosted blog that you installed, it will be in the left sidebar of the blog’s admin section
if your blog is hosted at wordpress.com, you need to go to their forums
    Home
