Support » Plugins and Hacks » Plug-in Not Extracting to Archive?

Hi—-I created a new self-hosted wordpress blog, and am in the process of adding various plug-ins, but keep getting error message, that reads, “files could not be extracted”.
Maybe you are not getting the files downloaded properly or something is wrong with the program that is handling the ‘unzip’ process.
Thanxs for your reply. I have downloaded plug-ins before, for another blog i have, and never a problem. I use Dreamhost as my host and Net2Ftp, the web-based ftp client.
I usually upload the plugins in the plug-in directory, decompress the zip files, and then they get transferred to server.
Is there something i can check to see if i missed something on the blog install? I have no idea why this is happening.
Don’t know about ‘decompressing’ zip files at dreamhost. But if you decompress on your local machine, then FTP the plugin file (or folder) up to your wp-content/plugins folder, does that work?
I’m not very techy, so i use the web-based FTP that comes with my host. That is what i use for everything: blog installs, themes uploads, plugins, etc.
Like i said before, i use it regularly and never have a problem with it. But on this new blog, the plug-ins are not going through for me.
