 * I have a WP website which has a blog, and I want to know if it’s possible and
   worthwhile to incorporate a plug in that will be allow me to construct a more
   creative and visually appealing blog?
 * I already have a version of Visual Composer, but it doesn’t seem to possess the
   capabilities I’m after?

 * Hello!
 * You won’t be able to customize the Blog page’s design / layout with a plugin.
   You’ll need a developer to do some custom coding for that.

 * > I have a WP website which has a blog,
 * Fundamentally, the WordPress Theme system is a way to “skin” your weblog. Yet,
   it is more than just a “skin.” Skinning your site implies that only the design
   is changed. WordPress Themes can provide much more control over the look and
   presentation of the material on your website.
 * A WordPress Theme is a collection of files that work together to produce a graphical
   interface with an underlying unifying design for a weblog.
 * A Theme modifies the way the site is displayed, without modifying the underlying
   software.
 * If you modify your theme, consider creating a [child theme](https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes)
   otherwise all your customization will be overwritten when you next update your
   theme.
 * Alternately:
    – If your theme has a custom CSS option, use that to add the CSS.–
   If you are using WordPress 4.7+, use the “Additional CSS” option in the customizer.–
   If not, install the plugin [Simple Custom CSS](https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/)

 * Thanks for the replies.
 * I’ve looked at few plug-ins, namely another visual composer that alleges to be
   able to design pages and grids for blogs?
 * So is that not the case if I have an existing website already?

 * I’m familiar with the themes, but if a WP theme is designed to allow for greater
   control over how the material is displayed on a website, why am I still operating
   within certain parameters that don’t really allow for extended creativity?

 * Hi, I am simply providing the most simple solution I can think of using Visual
   Composer – to do it properly, I would be engaging a web designer/developer but
   to achieve what you want as easily as possible:
 * 1. Use Visual Composer
    2. Go to Theme Demos like Avada, The7, U-Design, XTheme,
   Enfold and look at their demos, page layouts etc – they are all designed using
   Visual Composer – You can recreate any one of those pages.
 * ANother plugin you may want to consider is Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer–
   it adds a whole bunch of additional VC elements to use in your pages.

 * I’m confused…
 * As per the previous response above from Blade, it appears that a plug-in that
   modifies the template of my blog isn’t possible?
 * Or is this not the case?

 * There is no such thing as a plugin that modifies the template.
 * You need to install a new theme or build your own to change the template.
 * VC will help you style the content within the pages only

 * Maybe, I’m not being clear enough.
 * I only want to modify the layout – so the way images and text are formatted or
   laid out.

 * When I refer to the template, I’m referring solely to the blog which is in WITHIN
   my website.

 * So, I’m currently looking at a free demo of Visual Composer and am I right in
   thinking that I can install this plug-in to my existing Word Press website to
   modify images, text and content within the blog feature?
 * Thanks.

 * Plugins like Visual Composer are page builders. They just build content inside
   your page, inside the template that the developers made, they don’t influence
   the whole page template and layout, like making the container width bigger or
   smaller, or making the page boxed or full width, etc.
 * Also, you Blog page is a dynamic page, where all the posts’ excerpts display.
   If you go into Pages -> Blog (if that’s how you named your blog page), you’ll
   see that’s basically empty. You don’t see any posts or images, like you see if
   you access yourdomain.com/blog/. You could add some content there, but it either
   won’t show, or it will show somewhere on top of everything else.
 * Now, I’ve done some searching and I’ve found this. Perhaps it will provide what
   you’re looking for – [https://wordpress.org/plugins/blog-designer/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/blog-designer/)
 * Make sure you create a backup before using it. It’s a pretty complex plugin,
   so you can expect conflicts / incompatibilities with your theme or even some
   plugins.

 * Thanks.
 * It appears that VC may be suffice what I’m looking to do.
 * I only want to change content and images, and as [@broseph](https://wordpress.org/support/users/broseph/)
   has said, blog designer is complex and may complicate my theme.
