# PLS what Could be wrong

 * I have been using WordPress for sometime, but every attempt I made to add new
   theme or plugin keeps giving me this line of error, although I could do that 
   manually:
 * An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this
   server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support
   forums.
 * What do I need to do to resolve this?

 * Is your WordPress up to date? It could also be one the plugins that is outdated.
   Try deactivating your plugins and then reactivating them one by one to see if
   there any plugin in particular that is causing this problem or not.

 * Hmm, It’s strange. I can’t think of anything else. I tagged this topic to have

 * That message happens when your server is unable to contact the WordPress.org 
   API for whatever reason. This will only affect updates and installing plugins
   and such. It does not affect the actual operation of your website.
 * Likely cause: your server is firewalled and blocking outgoing connections to 
   api.wordpress.org. Ask your server host about it.
