• Gutenberg has incompatibility problems with old posts, and editors are not happy with it even just to add new posts.

Please do not add it to core, it will ruin the WordPress User Experience

Let people have the choice to add it as a plugin. Promote it as you with but do not force it. It ll be a nightmare 🙁

  • Many new technologies are incompatible with old technologies. That’s not a good reason not to move forward. It’s been known for a long while that Gutenberg is coming – plenty of time to make preparations.

Personally I’m not a complete fan of Gutenberg yet either, but that hasn’t stopped me from giving it a good go. After playing around with it for a while, I can see many benefits from it. Dare I say, even warming to it (slowly). Not having to use heavy page builders such as WP Bakery will be great, for a start.

It’s not about being good or bad. It’s about being in core. I see gutenberg as an extension to the default editor. So it should be a plugin. Even for the fairly computer literate ones, the default editor is easy to use while gutenberg is alienated with unnecessary complications. Especially, the children find it hard to use. You need to consider the majority of users here.

Keeping it as a plugin is the right and sane choice.
