This is one of those plugins that really shouldn’t need an update unless core WP has changed something that’s causing it to no longer work correctly.
I hear you, WG. I only ask because the WordPress repository flashes a warning of how old and outdated it is. Wordfence is hysterical with worry. It matters because it’s about communication to users, maybe.
Thanks for responding, much appreciated!
Unfortunately, there’s not much I can do about the warning the repo adds. The only way to get rid of that is to update the plugin, which is silly to do when there are no code changes. This has long been a problem with the WordPress.org plugin directory, and no one seems to care much about fixing it.
Well, yes, you can update the plugin, silly or not. That is what WordPress requires, and it is the platform you are on.
I would gladly join in if you seek public support for positive change. But all I know is that your plugin is made to look as if it’s abandoned and dangerous by the software in my face, even though I think it’s a false alarm. So systemic trust is being lost here, and you are contributing to that for whatever reason.
As for long-standing problems no one cares about, you are speaking of the human condition. I may not want to live in an entrenched, life-destroying oil-based oligarchy trending toward military dictatorship, but that’s not to say I don’t care. Hierarchies make rational change nigh impossible, and WP is caking into one under the dire influence of commerce. Because commerce is energetically motivated and, oddly, others are not. This dynamic is writ large across our era.
Ignoring other folks’ issues isn’t an effective protest. Just giving you feedback. Thanks for the prior inspiration.
Hey I solved the problem!
I deleted it.
@johnroyce which plugin are you using now instead?
