  • Hi Mungle,

I don’t want to steal anyone away from this awesome plugin, but if you’re looking for a solution in the meantime, check out Better Font Awesome:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/better-font-awesome

This plugin allows you to specify which version of Font Awesome you want to use (including an option to always pull in the latest version), and works with old shortcodes from most major Font Awesome plugins (including this one) so you don’t have to stress about backwards compatibility.

@mcguive7: Please do not try to promote your plugin in this way. It really isn’t very ethical

I hear you Esmi – just to let you know I have written to Rachel about this and produced this plugin as an interim solution while she’s updating Font Awesome. It’s fine with me if you want to remove my post, however my understanding is that plugins are all about improving the experience for users. Rachel is in the process of updating her plugin, and several users have expressed the need for an immediate solution. As I see it, the options are to tell them about the plugin I created and help them, or to refrain from doing that which just seems like holding back a potential solution. This is all GPL, open-source, right? It’s not like I’m making money off of this 🙂

Would love to hear any additional thoughts you’ve got, as I think this is a really important topic/question.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Well, if she is alright with this, then we are. If you have the opportunity to post in a similar topic again, it might be worth prefacing your mention of your plugin with a the rider about contacting Rachel etc. That should stop someone like me barging in again. 🙂

Totally understood, glad that folks like you are looking out for the forums’ best interest 🙂

And @rachel – by all means, please chime in if you’d like this post removed. The last thing I want to do is step on toes.

Thanks Mickey Kay, You’ve managed to give me exactly what I needed. For a bloke with zero coding experience I need plugins that are simple (in my terms) and you’ve made it so. With all due respect to the moderators, unethical it is not, practical it is me thinks.

    Larry
