If you use the advanced section and then add a language all your advanced code is replaced without warning. Please improve that.

    Hi,

Unfortunately it is not possible to guess your changes and update the code based on that.

    Thanks!

Well, fair point. But why can you do it differently?

At the end of the day there are only so many things that one would want to display in the menu items:

    [flag]
    [Language-Native]
    [Language-English]

You could allow us to specify a “pattern”. In my case:

    [Language-Naative] ([Language-English])

Then I don’t need to use custom code at all since you can easily build the required menu item strings from the above format string. This is more flexible than forcing us to use a set of predefined drodown list choices.

    Hi,

Sorry, but I do not want to complicate the plugin.

Widget code section gives you full customization abilities. You are going to customize the language selector only once, it is not a day to day scenario to think about patterns.

    Thanks!

This is true. But what about when I get a user request to add a new translation to my program? It does happen. This is why I now have about 45 languages supported.

I take your point, but that is just it, 6 months down the line there is a language change. It is too easy to forget this limitation in the plugin about blowing up the widget content every time you make changes. It is imperitive that a user have a proper backup of their advance coding.

I have to say that I am surprised at the lack of desire to improve this product based on user feedback. These ideas I have are not really complicated, make it more useful, and aid your users. All good.

But, it is your plugin, your choice. I understand.

I have already suggested to use backups when you are doing changes on another topic to be safe.

    Thanks!

Yes, but that was the whole point of using staging area anyway.

    I already use backups.

It is clear that ypou have no intentions to warn your users of potential corrupt of data or loss of data due to plugin operation. That is your choice.

Atleast I know. 🙂 And if others read this and they use advance widget / staging they might see this discussion.

    Have a great day.
