    i am a total noob into all this… but i managed to understand a lot of things so far…BUT… i came accross an error message when installing wordpress… i am guessing the problem has to do with my “wp-config.php” file… but i just can’t figured this out. i have spent 3 hours already redoing this file and still… bellow is the error i get. oh, and i am trying to run/host this wordpress using the free 25mb personal webspace that i get from comcast. can i use wordpress with comcast? maybe my problem is with the mysql and php stuff… because i have no idea of those things are…

    i would really appreciate your help and time 🙂

    <?php
    define(‘WP_INSTALLING’, true);
    if (!file_exists(‘../wp-config.php’)) {
    require_once(‘../wp-includes/functions.php’);
    wp_die(“There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started. Need more help? We got it. You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.”, “WordPress › Error”);
    }

    require_once(‘../wp-config.php’);
    require_once(‘./upgrade-functions.php’);

  • Not sure you can use WordPress on a Comcast hosted situation. You have to have PHP and MySQL. Ask Comcast if they meet the requirements as described at http://wordpress.org/about/requirements/

    I would like to set up a wordpress blog. To do so, my webhost needs PHP version 4.2 or later and MySQL version 4.0 or later. Does Comcast meet these requirements?

    Hello Diana. This wordpress blog issue falls outside the boundaries of Comcast High Speed Internet technical support. Comcast does not provide technical support for the setup of a wordpress blog.

    Derek(Mon Oct 01 2007 02:10:21 GMT-0400 (EDT))>

    The following link will provide you with information explaining what products and or services Comcast provides technical support for: http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=Account_ManagementPolicies17767

    Is there anything else that I can assist you with Diana?

    Diana_(Mon Oct 01 2007 02:10:35 GMT-0400 (EDT))>

    Derek, I’m not asking you to support the installation of a blog.

    Diana_(Mon Oct 01 2007 02:10:47 GMT-0400 (EDT))>

    All I need to know is if comcast has PHP and MySQL.
