  • Hello, first i’d like to thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Here is what i currently have, and then i will ask what i need.

I have a BigCommerce site (, registered with GoDaddy, and hosting at BigCommerce. I have a blog setup on another domain provider and host called (

HOW can i create a subdomain called using my wordpress blog at, but show in the address bar (ie:, /post-2/, etc)??!!

I have tried creating a subdomain with godaddy, which redirects to, but it doesn’t work. i have tried creating a subdomain with bigcommerce and CNAME to and i STILL get a 404 error.

ANY help is greatly appreciated as i have been tackling this problem for a long time now. i am by no means internet/network savvy.

If you’re pointing your domain to your hosting provider’s nameservers, you can check with them on how to create a subdomain from the hosting account.

If you want to create the subdomain at the domain level and point it to the IP address (

If you’d like to provide the domain name itself, it might be easier to see what you’re doing specifically. If you aren’t comfortable posting it publicly, you can send it with details in a ticket here: and reply back with your ticket number and I can have it looked at from there.

    Hi Kevin,

I work at Bigcommerce. I can definitely help you set this up. In order to get your blog running as a subdomain. You will just need to create a 301 redirect within your control panel.

The first step will be to select the Website Content tab in your control panel, and then select Create a Webpage. Next to “This Page Will,” select Link to another website or document. Fill in your page name. This will be the name of your link.

Then, you will want to go to Tools–> DNS Records to finalize the redirect.

    Ex: Host:
    Type: CNAME
    Redirects To:

Here’s a great support article that outlines all these steps with screen grabs.

In addition, if you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact me anytime. Or, you can submit a support ticket or give us a call. We’ll be happy to help you get this working.
