    Hello,
I have a question for you because I couldn’t find an answer as much as I searched. Everywhere they write different things that confused me even more. I can not understand what I have to put and set the templates for the meta descriptions. I am not sure which variables I should use on the Meta description template. I want Google to see the Meta description of each individual post which I wrote. Some people say that it should leave it blank this option on the Meta description template if I want this to happen, and others it should be used the option %%excerpt%% or %%excerpt_only%%. I have Yoast Seo 8.3 installed on my web.
Please help me with this problem because I can not manage myself.
    best regards

You can refer to this article on how to craft good meta descriptions — https://yoast.com/meta-descriptions/

Going from there, you can then identify which variables you would wish to use as a template for your meta description — https://kb.yoast.com/kb/yoast-wordpress-seo-titles-metas-template-variables/

Thank you for your reply Michael!
I have already read all these articles and all other posts on the Yoast page, but nowhere is mentioned which variables I should use on the Meta description template so that the Meta description of each individual post is displayed in Google. Looking at all the options for the variables none of them is indicated for the meta description. I apologize but can you just tell me which is the right choice, I don’t know what to do!!!
    best regards

By default, Yoast SEO leaves the meta description template blank because we believe that every post and page should have a custom written meta description for best results. The downside is that you have to edit every piece of content and write a custom description which can be time-consuming which is when the %excerpt% and %%excerpt_only%% variables can help. The upside is that a custom description has a higher chance of being used by Google.

By using the %%excerpt%% variable, the meta description can automatically be filled with the WordPress auto-generated excerpt or the custom one if you write one on the post/page. The downside is that the excerpt is typically the first few words of your post or page and doesn’t always convey a complete thought. The upside is that every post/page will have a meta description.

The %%excerpt_only%% variable is similar but only uses the custom written excerpts on the post/page. The downside is that you still have to write a custom excerpt on every page just like you would when using the default blank meta description. The upside is that if you have an existing site that already has custom excerpts for your content, this saves you the time of copy/pasting from the excerpt into the meta description.

As we’re not familiar with how your site is set up in the backend, we cannot advise you as to which is the right choice but, hopefully, the information above will help you decide which is the right option for you.

    Ok amboutwe,
thanks for the detailed answer! My page has a meta description of every post which I personally wrote matching the content of this post. As I understand, I have to leave blank the templates for the meta descriptions so the meta description of each individual post which I wrote it is being used by Google. Thank you very much
