    PLEASE HELP!

    I have just uploaded a new template after a few years of having the same one. It appears that upload content I now have to do coding? All themes I have used before do not require this, so not sure what to do…When I go to the live homepage it says Homepage Example…how on earth do I edit it!?!? I just want to add content not mess around with code…

    In WordPress a template is a type of file within a theme, but it sounds like you mean you have changed your theme rather than a template.

    This is obviously a theme issue. For anyone to be able to help you should provide details of the theme you are using and a link to your site.

    Sorry! Yes I have changed my theme and now it shows like this:

    I have now switched to Twenty Twelve….still not sure how to make it work…

    It looks like your previous theme used shortcodes which are not supported by your current theme. What theme were you using previously?

    Oh really? I was using Colourway…

    I thought it was just a new to edit WordPress themes!! Doh

    What do I need to do?

    The colourway theme hosted on WordPress.org looks like it has an extensive theme options section. Unless the theme you replace it with has the same options, and the settings are portable between the two I don’t think there’s an easy way to migrate from one to the other.

    If I had the task of building a new site for someone who previously used a theme like this I would start from scratch rather than try to shoehorn functions from the old theme into the new one.

    just deactivate all your plugings and install a next theme. maybe a conflict between plugins and theme.

    Ok, makes sense.

    Does that mean deleting all files and uploading WordPress again? The content wasn’t great so don’t mind doing this.

    Thank goodness for you! I have been baffled for a week trying to Google this problem.
