I keep getting this message when i try to upload a image from my comp:
Unable to create directory D:\Hosting\3122371\html/wp-content/uploads/2010/07. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
I checked with go-daddy and nothing had changed with my hosting or server.
Also when i try to update from 2.9.2 i get this message:
Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file D:\Hosting\3122371\html/wp-content/wordpress-3.tmp because Permission denied in D:\Hosting\3122371\html\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 184
Download failed.: Could not create Temporary file
I dont know anything about wordpress..my friend built my site for me.. please help..matt
D:? That sounds like a drive letter. Also, you are using Windows nomenclature for what should be a GoDaddy file path of /Hosting/3122371/html/wp-content/uploads/2010/07.
It sounds like a file / folder permissions issue.
This really needs to be in how to and troubleshooting.
thanks. I know nothing of all this. Is there a way to change the D: to the correct path? and if so, where do i find this.
Check your wp-config.php file. I think it’s your ABSPATH variable.
You can use the relative path to overcome from the server default settings for absolute path.
this is all it says about ABSPATH:
/** WordPress absolute path to the WordPress directory. */
if ( !defined(‘ABSPATH’) )
define(‘ABSPATH’, dirname(__FILE__) . ‘/’);
/** Sets up WordPress vars and included files. */
require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-settings.php’);
this stuff is confusing
that’s from the FTP. am i suppose to go through wordpress?
Your wp-config looks typical, so you are fine there. Tell me if you find D: in your wp-settings.php file. Basically I’m trying to track down where the D: is coming from.
I am not seeing anything with a D: i searched all my files on my site. cant figure it out. I feel like its something within wordpress
D: is from the fact that he’s on Windows GoDaddy hosting.
IIRC a lot of people have had problems up and out the wazoo with Godaddy and Windows.
I think you just need to correct directory permissions. This post talks about it and has images:
(the site itself seems to be down?)
