Please Help – How to change username?

    I’m wondering how I can change my username when logging into my dashboard from “admin” to something of my choosing. I don’t like that hackers only have to guess one password in order to break into my site because they know the username is “admin”.

    I know I’ve read somewhere that it can be done, but I’m not sure how????

    Hi

    You can’t change a username. What you can do is create another user name with Admin privileges. The log out as admin and log in as the new user. Then under Settings / Users, delete the Admin user. It will ask what you want to do with existing posts – transfer them to the new user.

    Accomplishes the same as changing the user name.

    can’t you change ‘admin’ username in phpmyadmin?

    You can change your user name in phpmyadmin as far as I am aware. In wp-users. I have tested locally and it seems to work but not tried remotely. If anyone has had any problems doing this it would be helpful to know?
