 * Hey everyone,
 * I created my wordpress site this time last year. I recently updated it 2 weeks
   ago. Everything was working fine up until this morning.
 * whenever I try to log into my wordpress site, or visit it, I keep getting this
   error message:
 * Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home3/jamguin/
   public_html/wp-content/themes/voltata/inc/template-tags.php on line 174
 * is there anyway someone can help me out with this? I have a lot of important
   information on my site that I need for an upcoming project and I’m freaking out:((((

 * this is exactly what happened to me today and it’s the voltata theme that started
   it. I was able to log in to our database through godaddy and change the theme
   that way but I pretty much had to go it alone because everyone was all “oh… that’s
   beyond my scope”.
 * Do you know how to find your database?

 * FWIW, the theme could also be disabled by renaming its folder via FTP (or a File
   Manager provided by the host); if the currently active theme’s folder can’t be
   found, WordPress will switch to the default theme instead.

 * [@amin1990](https://wordpress.org/support/users/amin1990/): I found the cPanel
   File Manager documentation that explains [how to rename a folder](https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/ALD/File+Manager#FileManager-Createanewfileorfolder),
   if that helps at all.
 * Or perhaps you could ask your host to rename it for you?

   S I’m sorry I’m not helpful but I can at least tell you it’s recoverable. 🙂
