    So using a plugin for free is fine, but asking for a review in return is bad. Even if you very easily and simply can close the request.

    Yes, it’s completely fine, to use a free plugin. If you have anything against that, there is a lot of ways to create paid plugins.

    But just because it’s free, it don’t have to be spamming these notifications. Do you know what the notification area is for? It’s people like you who make the debate about notifications appear.

    You can ask for all the reviews you want, on the settings page of the plugin.

    The notification area is whatever a developer wants and needs it to be.

    Again, you simply can close the notification and it is done, it won’t reappear when you login next time. And the whole process won’t take even 5 seconds of your life.

    Besides, you giving a 1-star review is completely out of proportion. Did the plugin destroy your website, does it not work, does it not create any value? I guess you are still using the plugin because it has value for you.
