  • Hi there, it’s good you left a review on a plugin.

The purpose of the “Try Gutenberg” prompt was do get more feedback to make Gutenberg better for a larger audience.

It would help if you could add which part of Gutenberg didn’t work as expected that made your reject Gutenberg outright?

Change is something that I openly, but not blindly, embrace. I’ve been in the IT industry in some form or another since 1984 and have experienced a LOT of change and embrace change almost daily. Way back when, I could read punch paper tape.

I get the feeling WordPress is wanting to be like other platforms such as SquareSpace, Wix and who knows what else. Be yourself. That’s been your strength since the beginning. Don’t believe me, I’m just one nerd. Look at the data – https://w3techs.com/technologies/overview/content_management/all. If the current editor is as bad as it’s being made out to be WordPress wouldn’t be at the top of the list.

The easy path for me would be to dismiss Gutenberg because it’s different. That’s lazy and I’m far from that, and I suspect most people here are not either. I have a test site with nothing but WordPress, 2017 theme and Gutenberg plugin installed because I want to give Gutenberg a fair chance with nothing to get in its way. From my perspective, there is nothing I like about it. I respect the community, which is why I feel sharing my honest feedback is the right thing to do.

The other easy path would be to dismiss the +50% 1-star ratings as simply angry, change-averse people.

    OK, I’ve archived replies.

I keep saying this: the reviews here are not a blog and the replies here are not blog comments.

The reviews here are feedback about a plugin or theme. In this case Gutenberg. If you are jumping onto many reviews just to opine then please do not. Address the review or post your own review. Please stay on point.

Doing a pile on doesn’t help move anything forward and isn’t productive. And before anyone gets snarky, I’m not opining about this plugin here I am explaining as a moderator why those replies were and will remain archived. This applies to other reviews when found as well.
