  • I have been using Gutenberg for months now, and I am used to it, and really loving it.

In fact, I am in a reversed situation, where I am more used to Gutenberg editor than with the classic.

Thank you for all of your hard work, and can’t wait to see more features on Gutenberg blocks.

    Cheers.

Firstly, thanks for leaving a review. You raise an interesting point, right now those using WordPress are used to a certain way of doing things. It’s important to note though they had to learn a high, steep learning curve to get there. This is important to remember as WordPress grows and new users come to it.

In order for us as a product to grow, we have to both consider the existing and the new users. Those that have never learnt the WordPress way. We have to look outside of our practices and to what is happening within the web right now. The editor last had an update many years ago.

This all adds up to a fine balancing act and that is what Gutenberg is trying to do today. It’s not a complete product yet but each release there are iterations and growth.

It’s important to note though they had to learn a high, steep learning curve to get there.

Actually not, the default editor is very simple to use, especially compared to Gutenberg. As a developer, most sites I create for clients use ACF which allows super easy posting of complex posts and pages…with a user-friendly layout.

We have to look outside of our practices and to what is happening within the web right now.

The web today is about content, not about a DIY page-builder style editor. I could see Gutenberg used in WordPress.com sites to go after that market, but dropping into WP Core is a massive mistake as can be seen from overwhelming negative response.

Its sad that nobody at WP is listening and they are just moving forward regardless of what the majority think.

Have you try to use it? It is much faster workflow than the classic visual editor. It is less clicks button to do the same job. I normally only use h2-h4 and insert image and I always use shortcut key but moving to Gutenberg it is even faster than using shortcut key. Now i don’t have to bother with scrolling up and down, no more looking at the keyboard to see the combination of 3 shortcut keyboard everytime I want to insert pictures. I don’t have to bother scroll though page to settings my document. It is so much easier than many people fear. I personally like something that is simple and minimal but this I can say it is much simpler than the classic editor. It is really natural workflow for writing content. I understand if developer will hate it but as the writer I think this is the best move. It is not page builder but It is much better than page builder. You don’t have to drag any widget but you just type “/” simple like that.
