• This plugin needs a better structure for multilingual sites which use the same list.

There is no way to customize the field names or even the widget title by default, which is trivial to code.

This functionality is very common when using conditional widgets that just display based on language.

The only way to do this seems to be to create a separate list which is not always the right solution, it should be possible to easily do this within wordpress, like it is for pretty much every other widget.

  • Hi Wycks,

Thanks for hopping in the forum. Currently the field labels in the plugin are directly connected to those in MailChimp. In MailChimp, the field label can’t be translated. But I will definitely pass on your feedback on multi-lingual sites.

The success, error and other messages should be translated automatically based on the language you have set in your MailChimp site. If you define a language in the wp_config.php file, those messages will be translated to that language. If you would like to modify the translation, you can edit the .po file in the plugin package folder. There’s a section of the plugin faq has some details on editing that file.

Another alternative, is using the MailChimp embed code. With it you can edit the html code and add your own labels. Here’s some info on using that: http://kb.mailchimp.com/article/how-can-i-add-my-signup-form-on-my-website

    Thanks!
