Support » Plugin: Toolset Types - Custom Post Types, Custom Fields and Taxonomies » Please add "show_in_nav_menus" and date based archives

  • Hello.

I love your plugin, but am missing 2 important functions, which I think would be great if they were added.

First a really small one, because its just a parameter of register_custom_post_type() – show_in_nav_menus is just a boolean and will enable custom post types to be selectable in the menu edit screen. That would be really handy.

Also it would be great if you could integrate the possibility to have date based archives. There is a good solution here:

As I suspect many others are also building their own events categories and this would be so great to have.

    Thank you for considering.

If anyone knows how to integrate the 2, i’d be happy to do that in the mean time.

    Thanks, Armin.

  • You must have overlooked it because its already there.

    [ ] show_in_nav_menus
Whether post_type is available for selection in navigation menus.
    Default: value of public argument.

About your suggestion, I will make sure it reaches the developers.

Ah ok, you are right, it IS there. I must have overlooked it the other day. The weird thing is that ticking it doesn’t make a difference (in fact it was already ticked when I just checked). Yet I only see Pages, Links and Categories in Menus. No other custom post types (of which I have 5) or Taxonomies (have 2 of those), all with show_in_nav_menus enabled, but nothing showing up.

    Any suggestions?

That second thing would be awesome!!

Maybe you need to show the meta boxes by clicking on “Screen Options”?

btw, your feature request is being evaluated.

Hey, that’s good news. Maybe it will be there in time for me to use on this (big) project. As long as you are evaluating things, this might be cool too: I am using it with Types, which works really well and gives me a lot more options than the relationship feature in Types. But I guess using it with Views is different, but for using it in the theme files directly it’s really powerful.

Doh, you are right, they were simply hidden. Weird that they would all be hidden by default. Thanks!

A forum user successfully used posts-to-posts with Types and Views by using a custom shortcode, you can read more about it here:
