Is the wp-config.php file only accessible by the admin? Is it found in the same place as the functions.php file (dashboard / appearance / editor)?
Editing your wp-config.php file is NOT hacking. Nor coding. All you’re doing is enabling an option. Only someone with FTP/SSH access to your site can edit that file. It’s in the main folder of your WP install (same level as wp-content folder).
Ticket http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/15916 has been picked up 🙂 Nacin suggests http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pjw-mime-config/ as well for now.
@janas – kudos in the trac tickets for the idea pages and the ics file whitelist 🙂

@ipstenu: I now have admin rights. You last suggested I add “define(‘ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS’, true);” to our “wp-config.php file.” You said it’s “in the main folder of your WP install (same level as wp-content folder).”
I’m sorry, but where is the main folder? or the WP-content folder? or the WP install, please?

@mercime: I’ve been given admin rights to our site, and I’ve posted our function.php code per your request to: http://wordpress.pastebin.com/tY51dg1S

@ipstenu, @mercime, I’ve solved it with the “PJW Mime Config” plug-in you recommended. Thank you!!
