Hi there, Stripe offers NZ BECS Direct Debit for accepting bank payments in New Zealand, but I’m not seeing it as an available payment method in the settings.
To use NZ BECS Direct Debit with the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway plugin, you’ll first need to enable it in your Stripe Dashboard. Once it’s activated there and your account is eligible, it should appear as an available option in the plugin settings.
I’m not seeing an option to enable it in your Stripe Dashboard?
It’s listed under Payment methods as ‘Eligible’, but unlike some of the other options such as ‘SEPA Direct Debit’ for example, it doesn’t have an ‘Enable NZ BECS Direct Debit in WooCommerce’ button like ‘SEPA Direct Debit’ does.
I assumed this is because it isn’t an option in the Woocommerce plugin, but if not can you tell me how I can enable it please?

Note that the NZ BECS button reads ‘Go to NZ BECS Direct Debit docs’ rather than ‘Enable…’, and there’s no configure button either.

Before we proceed with any troubleshooting on our end, I recommend reaching out to Stripe support to get more insight. It’s possible that there’s been a change on their side or something else. Once you hear back from them, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to take a closer look.
So Stripe suggested I talk to you guys as they’re not sure why NZ BECS Direct Debit isn’t displayed as an option.
Looking at the available options in the payments section in Woocommerce, I have a bunch of bank direct debit options that I don’t have active in my Stripe dashboard as they are for different regions… which seems to suggest the NZ BECS Direct Debit should also be an option that can be enabled in the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway plugin settings, shouldn’t it?
The only option active in my Stripe dashboard is Credit card / debit card, so why are the bank payment options for Austria, EU, Belgium, Poland and the Netherlands listed here?
As a side question, is there a way to stop these being displayed? I assume they’re just clutter for anybody not operating in the EU.

So as far as Stripe is concerned NZ BECS Direct Debit is up and running, and should be available.
Stripe also confirms on their official documentation that Australian BECS should be enabled via the dashboard: Stripe AU BECS Guide.
Since you’re specifically looking for NZ BECS, which isn’t currently supported, you can submit a feature request here: Stripe Feature Requests. If it gains enough support, the team may consider adding it in the future.

Thank you for confirming that WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway doesn’t currently support New Zealand BECS… hence the title of this inquiry haha!
I’ve opened a Stripe Feature Requests as suggested.
@iamhere Thanks for your input, I think @mosesmedh was saying that though Stripe supports New Zealand BECS, the plugin currently doesn’t. Please upvote the Stripe Feature Request so we can hopefully get it added asap!
