I have requested this before on wordpress. I did a recent search of other blogging sites and found that blogger.com certainly has a way to block user followers. I am once more requesting that wordpress implement this simple change for our blogs, otherwise I may have to leave wordpress entirely. I am a paying customer and I know you have a mega amount of freebie blogs but that eventually will fall apart if paying customers keep leaving. Please seriously consider this very important addition to our blogs here on wordpress. It is readily available elsewhere and should be here as well. See this from my internet search:

“Can you block someone from your blog?

Blogger gives blog administrators the ability to block users, which prevents them from showing up in the followers list and interacting with other blog users. The blocking feature does not let you block anonymous users or non-followers. Sign in to your Blogger dashboard. … Click on the user you want to block”

Here is how Tumblr does the blocking method:

To prevent someone from being able to interact with you on Tumblr, use the Tumblr “block” feature. Blocking someone on Tumblr removes that person from your follower list, keeps them from sending you messages, and restricts them from replying to or reblogging your posts.[1] The blocked user will still be able to read your blog by visiting its web address—unless your blog is password-protected! Hey,

Actually, you can block (Blacklist) people in WordPress :D. by going through settings > discussion scroll down to the “blacklist” area. Enter their username, email address, and if they included one, their website address. Do not use their IP address as IP addresses are no longer unique in the majority of cases, so blocking an IP address might blog other users. Also, they can always to a wi-fi hotspot and come with a different IP.

Hope this is what you are looking for!.

That section is just for comments.

    Comment Blacklist
When a comment contains any of these words in its content, name, URL, e-mail, or IP, it will be put in the trash. One word or IP per line. It will match inside words, so “press” will match “WordPress”.

    It does not block followers.

I am requesting a blocking function to permanently remove a follower. It would be nice to have a follower blacklist like this comment blacklist.

As I have shown above, 2 very popular blog sites (blogger and tumblr) have this feature readily available. It is a very simple and easy function to include on a blog site.

Why it is not here on wordpress is a mystery for sure, but it is a weakness for wordpress. I am asking on behalf of many of the paying customers here on wordpress to get us up to date with this blocking followers function.

Moved to Fixing WordPress, this is not a Requests and Feedback topic for WordPress.org. The functionality you are referring to does not exist in WordPress without an add-on.

My idea was already submitted a few months ago. I have been told they are considering it, but it may take along time for anything to happen.

So this sounded like a good place to post again-“fixing wordpress”.

Ok, we really can’t help with WordPress.com here.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.org/support/article/wordpress-vs-wordpress-com/

WordPress.com has complete documentation and support contacts at https://support.wordpress.com/
