    Hi

I have worked with WordPress for a few years, but so far never ventured into the world of ecommerce. A client is looking to get a simple site set up that offers a basic service. Customers will have a choice of 3 options to click / add to basket, then pay. Very simple. Ideally, using Paypal. So that’s how I found this plugin in Google search!

Will Woocommerce and PayPal for WooCommerce easily allow this simple process. Does it send an email when somebody makes an order? Is it possible to have a field to enter unique information that is stored in the backend and also emailed with the order to the client / website owner?

Yes, WooCommerce and PayPal for WooCommerce will make it quick and easy to get products setup for sale, and allow for people to pay through PayPal or credit card. I would recommend you start with Express Checkout and make sure to follow these steps to enable Guest Checkout for non-PayPal account holders.

The WooCommerce system handles sending out order email notifications.

It is possible to add custom fields to checkout, but that would require custom code from your theme’s functions.php file or an extension plugin.

Great. Can you recommend an extension plugin?

Can Woocommerce also send attachments via email to customers? e.g. a Word doc that they can then complete and return?

What I meant was that you would need to write your own extension plugin. Typically, people just do that sort of thing within the functions.php in their theme.

Yes, WooCommerce will handle delivery of digital items for you if you set the product up that way.
