# Dropdown “Select option” does not show

 * I was practicing with back-end demo but I could not add Dropdown “Select option”
   it automatically shows option’s text see this please [http://prntscr.com/off76n](http://prntscr.com/off76n).
   I want like this [http://prntscr.com/offb44](http://prntscr.com/offb44) “Choose
   an option” or “Select” could you please show me the way? Thanks

 * While providing the options in the select field start with a **pipe symbol** (
   |), so that the placeholder will display. Otherwise, it will take the first option
   in the select field.
 * For example: **|option1|option2|option3**

 * Inorder to show the placeholder “Select Option” in the dropdown, you need to 
   put pipe symbol at the starting of the options. Otherwise, it will take the first
   option.
